Hey everyone! Hope you have been smiley through this week. It is already midweek and we are almost on our way to March! Time passes really fast. Sigh~
Well, today I thought I would share on something that I have been on for months and how it had helped me to get better sleep. As you can tell from the title, I will be talking about ASMR~~
What is ASMR?
From Google’s Definition – ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, which, is a euphoric experience characterised by a static-like tingling sensation on the skin that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and back, precipitating relaxation.
This may seem too difficult to understand. So in my own simple words, it is simply a video where you have to watch with your earphones plugged in, with a youtuber whispering over the microphones to help you calm your nerves down.
How did I get started on ASMR?
When I had first started on my university studies, I realised I had always been spending nights away thinking, worrying about things that may or may not happen in the future. This often made me really nervous through the nights and really fidgety and tired during the days.
So I began searching for a solution and started searching on Youtube for Sleep Therapies. After I had discovered ASMR, it was a life-changing experience!
Benefits of ASMR
Based on my own research, this is what I have gathered from listening to ASMR Videos. To be really honest, my friends even my boyfriend weren’t convinced that ASMR actually works. For someone like me who often has insomnias, anxiety problems.. I felt like this was a great remedy.
Basically these are some points that ASMR are suppose to help you with:
- Reduce Stress Levels
- Improve concentration in the day
- Aids with recharging your energy
- Aids you with letting go of negativities
My Top ASMR Video Choices
Some of the ASMR videos I had started with were mainly in English. Subsequently, I had moved on from English to Korean ASMR videos and to my surprise, they seem rather soothing too! I don’t really know how to explain this but you should watch it for yourself to experience it.
Fairy Char was one of the first few ASMR youtubers I had followed on closely. I will say she is really awesome at this stuff! This is just one of the many ASMR videos that I watch under her youtube account. I am pretty sure you will be able to find one that suits you best!
Roleplay ASMR videos seem to always be the few top picks for me. Be it “a visit to the dentist”, “Treating migranes” or even “Taking care of a sick friend”. I will always tend to pick a roleplay that I feel comfortable with on a particular night and it helps to draw me into the situation along with the soothing voice, it makes me fall asleep.
*DO NOTE HOWEVER, If you are someone like me who is a beautyjunkie or a skincare junkie, watching ASMR roleplays of makeovers or skincare treatments don’t help me to get to sleep most of the time obviously! It just gets me excited~~ hahaha
Dana is one of the Korean ASMR youtuber that I frequent really often. Mainly because of her accent and her voice. Many of the Koreans have said that her voice gives off a really relaxing tingle to their hearts. For me, she makes me feel really comfortable, like a really close friend.
In any case if you don’t understand what she is talking about in her Korean videos, fret not! She does videos in English too. ^^
Now that I have introduced you to a whole new World of ASMR, some of you might have or might have not been exposed to this. Share with me your thoughts on this or maybe even some of the ways that help you to catch better sleep!
Have a good night of sleep tonight~~ xoxo
