Review: Kiehl’s Cilantro & Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque

Hey lovelies, I am back with another product review! It’s a lovely, cloudy Sunday here in Singapore as I get on with penning this down on my blog.. I hope you are having a great weekend as you read this.

Let’s get started!

I had shared previously on the Tumeric & Cranberry Seed Energising Radiance Masque here. The scrubby mask was something I had wanted to try and purchase. However, due to having too many exfoliators lying around in my house, I decided to give this a miss. Also, having tried the sample sachet Kiehl’s had graciously provided me with when I visited their store, I had a slight itch after using the mask.

So.. I reckon it is not suitable for my skin, which is already really thin & sensitive. Hurhur~ This is why I’d always encourage you to get a sample sachet and try the products out for a day or two and see if it suits you before your purchase. Best if you can try it on the back of your hands or your neck before you try it on your face.

I’d always advise you on this, but I, myself am very fond of making the very same mistake of trying products directly on my face and suffering from its consequences.. So, please take heed of this very seriously~ ❤

My Visit to Kiehl’s

To be really honest, this was my second trip to Kiehl’s. I had always loved how Kiehl’s was big on using natural ingredients in their products and how they had always used cute boys & pretty girls to promote their products during roadshows, but I never had the courage to step into their store. Reason being, it always seemed really serious and their beauty advisors often seemed quite intimidating with their lab coats on.

I don’t know how it’s like for you but its akin to seeing a doctor for me and that is definitely an intimidating experience for me. However, I gathered a hell loads of courage to step into the Westgate store and stared at the small green bottle for a couple of minutes before awkwardly pointing to it and said, “I wanna purchase this!”

It was a really funny sight in my opinion. Maybe it is just because I had always been socially awkward so yea.. In summary, my trip to Kiehl’s was great with the beauty advisor being really friendly & helpful. I had also learnt that if you were to purchase any Kiehl’s product in-store, you get a 10% off Clarisonic products within the store too. How great is that?

About Kiehl’s Orange & Cilantro Extract Pollutant Defending Masque

To provide you with a better idea of the masque and its benefits, here is what it’s said on their website:

“Our formula works to block and defend against skin-damaging air pollutants that penetrate the skin’s surface” – Kiehl’s Singapore

Benefits:

  • Blocks Damage
  • Repairs and strengthens skin
  • Helps and resist pollution
  • Heals & Prevents anti-aging

My First Experience

When I had the masque on my face for the very first time, I had placed on a thin layer of it and left it overnight.

It is cream-like in texture as you can see..

When spread out thinly, it isn’t as burdensome to the skin as you think..

I would never like to apply a masque on too thick before hitting the sack, mainly because it makes me feel uncomfortable as I roll about as I sleep.

I had a slightly huge, red bump on my skin the day I had first tried on the mask. On the next day, it slightly went down with obvious contributions from the masque. Initially, I was not too convinced as yet. So I had tried it on for a couple of days consecutively and pus eventually surfaced to the top epidermal layer of my skin and with diligent use of my Clarisonic Mia 2 on a nightly basis, the bump flattened.

Price wise, I will say $49 for a bottle is definitely quite pricey for students and early -starters office workers. But it will be a great item to have if you are looking for an effective solution instead of using common drug-store brand products which may not amount to similar results.

As much as that, I will say the downside of this mask is the remnants of it goes on my pillow from my face as I sleep at night and it is rather unsightly to have it on when you have your boy over at your house for sleepovers. Hurhur~ ㅜㅜ

Apart from the minor downsides to the product, if you are looking for a soothing, calming mask for pimply, sensitive skin, consider this as one of the better choices in the market. ❤

Until next time xx
