Suffering from constant itching, dry skin? Are you always on a constant look out for a lightweight yet hydrating body lotion that does not leave a burdensome sticky feeling on your skin?
I’d have tried many body lotions ranging from Eucerin to Cetaphil to the current Body Shop Almond Milk and Honey one. I must say I have lots to talk about it. If you are interested in learning more about my likes and dislikes of this product, please do not hesitate to read on. Otherwise, you can move along~ I have many other interesting beauty reviews for you to look into as well! 😉
Me and My Dry Skin
To give you a background on my skin so you would have a better understanding on how bad the condition of it is before you actually check out if this lotion works for you. Growing up, I have really dry, patchy skin. Not on my face but all around my body. I was dry as hell! My mum would always force me to moisturise my skin often and on the contrary, I had never liked how my skin felt every time I had moisturised it.
Under this treacherous hot, humid weather, sticky body lotions are the last you would want to go to! I grew up showering using only specific shower products and I’ve simply too little time to manage my terribly dry skin. Hence, I have always been on a look out for a quick, effective remedy.
How is it going with this Almond Milk & Honey Body Lotion?
I’d say there are pros and cons with using this product. First, let’s dig deep into the ingredients used within a bottle. Key moisturising ingredients like Shea Butter, Almond Oil and Glyceryl Stearate are ingredients you will enjoy. Shea Butter and Almond Oil are rich with Vitamin E and B2 which are great for hydrating your skin while Glyceryl Stearate (a very common chemical used) helps with locking in moisture.
So far, the texture of the product is rather on the creamy, light side. Upon smoothing out the product, dry skins like mine drink up every bit of nutrients like a thirsty hippo, which, feels great! In fact, it does not leave a sticky streak on your skin, which is what I love most about it.
The packaging also boasts of No Colourants, Mineral Oil, Petrolatum; Dermatologically Tested. Most importantly, 100% Cruelty Free, which I must say is amazing but just all marketing tactics I tell you.
Yet, as gentle as it may seem, this product contains ingredients that may irritate really sensitive skin like mine. Some of these ingredients are things you may want to avoid when looking for a body lotion for sensitive, dry skin – Parfum/Fragrance, Aluminium Starch Octenylsuccinate, Benzyl Alocohol.
Upon using this product, HECK! It is indeed irritating my skin as much as it hydrates my skin. This body lotion is like a sweet – smelling lovely poison on my skin. How it smells really calming with its sweet almond aromatic scent and no matter how much you convince yourself that this is soothing and restoring as the product claims, this product made me itched as hell.
From initial dry patches that I had, I now have itchy, red bumps on my skin that will take some time to go away. For the many of you out there, before you go walking into a Body Shop outlet because you’ve seen an influencer raving about its launch and what not. Stop whatever you are doing and re-think! Do a test patch before purchasing, otherwise live with regrets for the next couple of months. heh
This would only be a great moisturising body lotion if you are one who is looking for a regular scented body moisturiser or if you are a vegan advocate and would love to jump into a lovely moisturising body lotion to give your skin a quick fix.
By the way, this bottle of Almond Milk & Honey Body Lotion costs SGD$19.90, which, I have to say is a rather reasonable price for a cruelty – free moisturising body lotion with natural goodness. Yet, I’d still very much like to stick to my clinically proven Eucerin / Cetaphil body lotion.
Let me know what are your thoughts on this product and if you would ever purchase it.
Till next time,
